Comedy of Errors

Here is true story that happened yesterday,

A colleague of mine walked into my cubicle with another batchmate. She handed me an innocent looking envelope. Wait a min..whats this OMG it was her wedding card. Thats awsome I said.

As they were busy giving an invite to my cubical mate, who is also our batch mate, I browsed thorough the invite. Mainly looking for the time and place of the wedding as I could go and pork out some good food for free :) And then when I turned my attention to the other minor details like her HuB-2-B's name i was in a quandary, her Hubby to be's name was Prax and so was the guy's name who tagged along with her....I looked at the guy and tried to read his expression..was he the groom? he didn't appear very sad...naah couldnt be him...but then again why did he come with her?

My brains raced back to these rumors we had during our training at Mysore...it goes like this -- when a guy from our company marries a gal from our company they get 500Gs or something like that...Now haven't these guys figured out that that was just a rumor started by some guy with a fertile imagination...

Anyways coming back to the story, now I almost congratulated this guy but decide to hold back. I decided to wait for later lets wish him BRO style (which is basically a guy thing and to an onlooker would appear to be just verbal and sometimes physical abuse) Now comes the best part, they also gave the invite to my cubicle mate. As they left I asked this pal of mine whether he was thinking what I was thinking and YES he was just as duvidha as I was.

We decided to check out with another common friend to lay to rest our suspicions. We pinged her and asked. And THEN his extn started buzzing.. DAMN who was it now? People have the most annoying habit of calling when they shouldn't. The pal picked up the phone and his face turned a shade of purple...???

You alright doode? I asked as he kept the receiver. It was the guy who was according to us HUBBY2B and guess what he wasn't. I can't mention the exact details of the conversation if I do that then Blogger might mark my post as "unsuitable" for "certain" people. It was nearing six and so we decide not to risk our lives by lingering in office. Now, get out of my way you fool.....I am running for my life here

Life in a Tube

Today as I stepped out of my house for work, I realized that I had created a blunder, something for which I will never forgive myself (atleast for 2day)

I forgot to take my earphones...aw man...

It just didn't feel right for that hour that it takes to my reach office and an hour and a half on the way back. Having no other option I decided to reflect on life (at least for the time that I was awake). My contemplation made me realize how much we are at the mercy of machines, much like the predicament in the Matrix trilogy.

Oh my tattered ol' Mobile phone-cum-MP3 player,
I would write an ode about you,
I would praise you as if you were my muse,
but alas I am no poet,
I know not how to twist words into the metre of poetry.

I thank you my faithful pal for you have served me well and I hope you will do so for eternity (or you stop working :) )

The PC

You see it everywhere, wherever you go. You cannot miss it. You can choose to ignore it, but it will haunt you. It all started less than a year back and now its spread like wild fire.  And not you cannot close your eyes to the “PHONE CONDOM”

The other day I was travelling on the bus on my way to work. My co-passenger, who seemed not to have yet lost his senses, took out his phone from his pocket and there it was. His phone was covered up in this black material, the telecom equivalent of a condom.

Common characteristics of PC (that’s Phone Condom duh!!)

-It’s almost always black (got anything to do with being “Tall, Dark & Handsome??)

-It will be a very tight fit on the phone (the tighter the better)

-Very easily available (if the actual condoms were available so easily I guess, ppl would be more protected I guess J )

It’s all got to do with Indians and their obsession for preserving things for posterity, common examples are ppl having bought new cars will NEVER remove the plastic covers till the day it thankfully tears off after a long and painful life.

Wonder what other things Indians will come out with condoms for. Here’s  a top contender list:

-Someone will buy the Taj Mahal and the cover it up with Tarpaulin

-Cricket would be played with bats covered in bubble wrap

Anyways, coming back to the topic of the post wonder what would happen if phones DID mate. Imagine if a 1100 nailed a W550, would we get a phone that would have a 7 day battery life and play great music or a phone whose juice barely lasts for a day and doesn’t do anything more than make calls? Then brands like Noricsson or Motokia would be available. The “living dangerously” variety of phone would prefer the Chinese mobiles for a bang.

Until next time, play safe ;)

Life, Universe & Everything

Sigh!!!
I awe at the beauty of the human mind.
I despise the frailty of the human mind.
I respect the resillience of the human mind.

There is this story of a monk and his disciple on their journey. They reach a river and at this river is a young damsel seeking their help. She cannot cross the river because the current is too strong for her delicate frame. The monk simply picks her up and in his arms she crosses the river. The monk and the disciple move onwards on their journey. After some miles looking at the confusion in the disciple's eyes the monk asks him what is bothering him. The young disciple says how could you hold that woman like that, I thought you had taken the wow of celibacy? The monk coolly replies I dropped the woman at the other bank, you haven't.

......

How many emotions could be crammed in vast expanse of the mind? Why is it that our emotions are not controlled by us but by our surrounding?

I am amazed how my emotions changed from anger to fear to humiliation to gratitude to elation to comtemplative in a matter of a few hours. It was only yesterday that anger was spewing from my mind.. it was running to through every vein in my body and my mind...

But as destiny weaved its fabric how I realized my folly, it was as if all the walls were closing in but I had that thread of hope to which I clung to for my dear life. There are forces which are more powerful, whose power we can't even begin to contemplate....that ray of light.

And then, the brainwave, It was like clockwork all the pieces of the puzzle fell together as if by magic or have they soon we will know....

Probably one of the most iconic dialogs from Hollywood..

Its been a long hiatus to be precise from Wednesday, May 10, 2006 to Today - Thrusday, March 5, 2009.. thats exactly 1030 days (WOW) A lot of things have changed in these 1k+ days...

Its truly a nostalgic feeling to read by earlier post...BOY!! those were the days I had to worry only about getting through in the exams and acquiring & manually photocopying assignments. When they say the grass is always greener on the other side, they've nailed it on the head.

Have a lot of catching up to do

[Mental note to self: Will try to post more frequently then last time...I mean 1000 days WTF]

Getting Your Priorities

The education system in India doesn't actually test the knwoledge of a student but rather tests the memorizing capabilities. The (hard) work of entire six months is evaluated in terms of 12hours (4 papers) . Such is the system...

Alas I cannot change it so I have to follow it like hundreds of thousands with me....

The final 'Acid' Test will start from the 18th and will go on tillJune1. I have spent hours 'dreaming' being an engineer out of the rut of term start-time pass- submission-viva-exam-time pass. Finally the worth of the time we work will be evaluated incurrencyy rather than %ages. But saying all this I can't neglect this final hurdle as it still will play an important role in my future.

I have heard many-a-lectures saying that you have to work hard all the semester to get good marks and crap like that but its all wrong maybe it is because the way my mind is conditioned to cope up with the matter (read cram the sh*t) during the final few dbeforeefor the exam.

There have tough times in my academic career where I have felt like asking myself the question why am I doing this??? But we all have to fit the pattern or else we will be left out and I hate being left out. Always the future has influenced and inspired my present and sometimes dictated my actions.

Coming back to my priorities, right now my priority is to clear the final papers upto my expectation and that is no small task. (UN)Luckily the exam schedule this year is rather long with lots of gaps between papers which will proove more of a curse than a boon. So it all boils down to these few days (22 to be precise) and I have to distance myself from this wonderful cyber world so as to have chance of achiveing mytarget.

See you later (much later)
